John R. Rogers

John R. Rogers, 89 of Pekin passed away at 5:05 pm, Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Pekin Manor peacefully surrounded by his family. John was born May 26, 1924 in Middleton, TN to Arthur 'Neely'and Rebecca (Moody) Rogers.He married Margie Swader she preceded him in death.He later married the love of his life, Thelma Marie Rogers on November 2, 1974, she died January 20, 2012. He was also preceded by his parents, one son, Jimmie Rogers,and son in law, Joe Fardel John is survived by two sons, Johnnie (Pam)Rogers and Bobby (Regina)Rogers both of Pekin; four daughters, Laura Fardel of Pekin, Billie Craigmiles of Hardin, IL, Linda Achille of Pekin and Ginger of KY; three brothers, Charles Rogers of Muscles Shoals, AL, Clifford (Betty) Rogers of Gunersville, AL, and Bob (special friend, Joyce) Rogers of Green Valley; thirteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren and loved by all. John was a member of the Barton Baptist Church in Alabama. John retired as a machinest with Caterpillar where he was a member of UAW 974.He enjoyed fishing on Kentucky Lake, bowling and hunting.He coached softball for Caterpillar Interleagues.John was a Veteran with the United States Army serving during WWII. Cremation has been accorded.There will be no services and burial of cremated remains will be held in Alabama at a later date.Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory are assisting John's family with arrangements.
