John T. Mccormack

John T. McCormack, 41 of Pekin, passed away at 10:08 pm on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at the University of Chicago Medicine in Chicago. He was born on July 22, 1975, in St. Charles, MO., to Thomas J & Catherine (McNown) McCormack. He married Stacie Smith on March 17, 2007, in Pekin. She survives. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; John and Martha McNown, and Joseph and Eleanor McCormack; and one uncle, Joey McCormack. He is survived by his wife Stacie, his parents, Tom and Cathy of Bartonville; Stacie's parents, Jim & Aprile Smith, of Pekin, and brother-in-law Nate Smith of Germantown Hills. He also leaves behind his many wonderful friends. John loved making and spending time with friends. He truly never met a stranger and treasured each friendship he made along the way. John graduated from Pekin Community High School in 1994, and Western Illinois University in 1999. He worked at Caterpillar as an analyst. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. He was a member of the Limestone American Legion Post 979 SAL. John was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Bears. He enjoyed music, concerts, movies, and was a connoisseur of good barbeque, once taking a 3 day trip to Alabama to explore regional tastes, stopping at different restaurants on the way for barbeque. He has been described as a 'walking encyclopedia of useless information', due to his perfect memory of about anything he ever read, and was in high demand as a trivia game partner. One of his greatest joys was the celebration of his Irish heritage on his favorite holiday of the year, St. Patty's Day. He scheduled his engagement and wedding to be able to be married St. Patty's Day in 2007, as it fell on a Saturday that year. A private graveside service will be held at Prairie Haven Cemetery. John's Celebration of Life will be Saturday, February 4, 2017, from 2pm to 5pm at the Limestone American Legion Hall, 4501 S Airport Rd, Bartonville, IL 61607.
