John "Dan" Lamb

John D. 'Dan' Lamb, 78, of Pekin passed away at 3:20 AM Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at his home. Dan was born June 12, 1936 in Bloomington, IL to John David and Ethel (Miller) Lamb Jr. He married Barbara Hansen on September 5, 1960 in Washington, IL. Preceding in death are his parents and one brother, Lawrence Lamb. Surviving is: his wife, Barbara of Pekin; four daughters, Annette (Alan) Verpraet of Pekin, IL, JoEllen Hawley of Peoria, IL, Celeste (Erik) Lowndes of Apex, NC and Jennifer (Loren) Heitzman of Mt. Auburn, IL; eight grandchildren, Cassie (Christopher) Koehler, Sean McGill, Amber Hawley, Kristofer Heitzman, Josh Hawley, Danielle Heitzman, Mason and Kayla Lowndes; two great grandchildren, Titan Hawley and Chloe Koehler; one sister, Rose Marie Geske of Normal, IL; one sister in law, Betty Lamb of Geneseo, IL; many nieces and nephews. Dan worked for 42 years at Seig Auto Part and Big A Auto Parts. He worked at Velde Ford for four years retiring in 2004. He graduated from Bloomington High School and attended Zion Evangelical United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, painting and was the family handy man who could fix anything. When he was younger he made and raced micro midget racecars. Dan was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and NASCAR. Some of his favorite sports teams were the Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Bears and North Carolina State Basketball and football. Memorial services will be at 3:00 PM Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr. Pekin with Pastor Jeff Stark officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Midwest Food Bank.
