John M. Fortino

John Michael Fortino, 70 of Mapleton, IL passed away at 3:54 am, Thursday, December 13, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born August 1, 1948 at St Bernards Hospital in Chicago to John and Florence (Ozien) Fortino Sr.. He married Carol Marohnic on October 14, 1972 at St Alexander Church in Palos Heights, IL. He was preceded in death by his mother and sister, Ruthann Fortino. John is survived by; his wife Carol; two sons, John (Kim) Fortino Jr of Texas and Michael Fortino of Pekin; three daughters, Jennifer (Mike) Little of Florida, Susanne (Scott) Murray of Tremont, and Tiffany Fortino of Mokena; nine grandchildren; his brother Scott (Elsa) and father John Sr of Chicago. He was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. He served as a Sergeant squad leader of the 4th INF division earning the Army Commendation Medal for service in Vietnam, 1969-70. John retired from IBEW Local #134 as a Journeyman Electrician. He was a wonderful father, raising 5 children and spoiling 9 grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. His Funeral Mass with be at 11:00 am, Monday, December 17, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 606 S. 7th, Pekin with Father Michael Andrejek as Celebrant. A visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Sunday, December 16 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr, Pekin. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, with military rites accorded by the United States Army and the Inter-veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
