Johanna D. Peterson

Johanna D. Peterson, 95, of Pekin, IL passed away at 1:25 PM Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Hopedale Nursing Home. Johanna was born on November 18, 1928 in Pekin to Henry and Martha (Schmidgall) Schroeder. She married Philip Peterson on September 7, 1947 in Pekin. He passed away on July 12, 2002. Also preceding in death are her parents, one brother, Henry "Bill" Schroeder Jr., three sisters, Helen Godby, Virginia Connor and Ruth Herrman, and one great grandchild, Laina Stevenson. Surviving are: one son, Steven K. (Darla) Peterson of Kissimmee, FL; one daughter, Phyllis J. (Paul) Kowerko of Bloomington, IL; six grandchildren, Chad (April) Peterson, Josh (Aimee) Peterson, Sarah (Ryan) Knuppel, Joel (Ashley) Peterson, Alex (Faith) Kowerko and Marta (Martin) Stevenson; fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Johanna worked at Illini Welding for 21 years retiring in 1983. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and the JOY Circle. She was also a former member of the Pekin Boat Club, Pekin Union Mission and Peoria Senior Citizens Band. Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Chris Clark officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 11:00 AM Saturday. Inurnment will be in Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ 101 N. 8th St. Pekin, IL 61554.
