Joe F. Jenkins

Joe F. Jenkins, 82, of Pekin passed away at 6:42 AM Monday, September 14, 2009, at St. James Hospital in Pontiac, IL. Joe was born on April 13, 1927 in Pekin to George and Wilma (Morrow) Jenkins. He married Ila Mae Freidinger on January 30, 1949 in Pekin. She passed away on February 16, 1999. Surviving are: one daughter, Marcia (Steve) Knauer of Fairbury, IL, one son, David (Dawn) Jenkins ofHillsboro, Oregon; and a second daughter, Donna (Robert) Griggs of Pekin; five grandchildren, Jason (Marcy) Knauer and Aaron Knauer; Kevin, Kendra and Kelsey Jenkins; two great-grandsons, Caleb and Tyler; andtwo sisters, Margaret Riviere of Pekin and Wanda (Jim) Starrick of Gilbert, AZ. Joe served in the United States Army during WW II. He first worked at Corn Products in Pekin.He later served 10 Years as a Pekin Police Officer.For many years, he worked for Crown Cleaners.After 30 Years, he retired from Plant Security at Caterpillar, Inc. He was a member of and former Sunday School Teacher at St. Paul United Church of Christ.
