Joann Bearden

(Sylvia) Joan Bearden, 81, of Pekin, formerly of Nixa, MO passed away at 10:12 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at her home. Joan was born July 31, 1937 in Bloomington, IL to Forrest and Cora (Watts) Davis. She is survived by two sons, Robert Bearden and Todd Bearden both of Pekin; son-in-law, Brian Rochester of Pekin; two brothers, Gary (Mary) Davis of Gibson City, IL, Mark (Fran) Davis of Saybrook, IL; two sisters, Beverly (Darius) Davis Amjadi of Honolulu, HI, Judith Angela Davis-Leisure of Buffalo, MO; sister-in-law, Jean Davis of Manito; one granddaughter, Lauren Rochester (Joshua) Freehill and three great grandchildren, Parker, Sawyer and Piper Freehill. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Leslie Rochester; one son, Eric Bearden; one brother, Forrest Davis, one sister Carol Vance and nephew Brian Davis. Joan worked on the assembly line for General Electric in Bloomington retiring in 1998 after 25 years of service. When she wasn't listening to her favorite quiet music, she could be found reading the latest scientific novel or discussing her love of history. She was very close with her siblings, especially her sisters who she went on many hilarious adventures with. But nothing could compare to the love she had for her children, grandchild and great-grandchildren. They were her babies (no matter how old) and she spent many hours baking in her kitchen, laughing and talking with them over the phone, and reading stories to them. She will be missed by many for her contagious laugh and her grateful heart. Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Doctors without Borders.
