Jimmie Dale Salsman of Pekin, IL formerly of Richland, MO left this world peacefully at 4:07 AM Saturday, April 1, 2023, surrounded by his loving family, with 78 years of wisdom. Jimmie was born on October 26, 1944 in Pulaski County, MO to Snowden Salsman and Verde Harris Clark. He married Patricia Meiner on June 16, 1965 and together they had five children. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, step-parents, two brothers, one sister and son-in-Law, Robert Wells. Surviving are: his wife, Patricia of Pekin; five children, Lisa Reisch, of Phoenix, AZ, Barbara (Jeff) Daraban of Roanoke, IL, Dorane (Terry Cooper) Salsman of Creve Coeur, IL, Tammy (Robert) Wells of East Peoria, IL; his only son and "Chip Off the Ole Block" Dennis Todd (Jeanna) Salsman of Fulton, MO; fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; one brother, Gary (Ann) Clark; three sisters, Pauline (Earl) Dennis, Brenda (Frank) Shortell and Jackie (Terry) Evans. Jimmie was a Vietnam Veteran who proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Hancock, from 1962 1966. After marrying the love of his life in Phoenix, AZ they moved to his hometown of Richland, MO where he worked as a heavy hauler truck driver, alongside his father, Snowden. Their journey continued to Illinois where Jimmie began his career at Caterpillar, Inc. as a welder then on to Corporate Security where he continued and completed his college education to become a Fire Inspector, member of the HAZMAT team and a proud member of the First Responders. He retired after 32 years of dedicated service. He and Patty moved to Marion, IL to continue his love of fishing, hunting and the great outdoors. You could often find Jimmie on the lake or cruising around with Patty in "Little Red". They returned to Central Illinois to be closer to his family and children. Jimmies pride and joy was his loving wife, Patty, who stood by his side for almost 58 years and his family. He enjoyed holidays and especially adding pictures to his "book" and trolling Google Earth. A visitation will be held at Henderson Funeral Home and Crematory in Pekin on Friday, April 7, 2023 from 5:00 PM 7:00 PM. An additional visitation will be from 11:00AM 12:00 PM Monday, April 10th at Richland Memorial Chapel in Richland, MO with funeral services at 12:00 PM with Dr. Doug Earls officiating. Interment will be at Hazelgreen Cemetery with full military honors provided. Our hearts are saddened by the loss of the "Illustrious Supreme".
