Jimmie D. Cope

Jimmie D. Cope, 75, of Pekin, IL peacefully went to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 8:25 PM. Jim was born on August 1, 1949 in West Plains, MO, son of Hershel and Georgia (Bell) Cope. He married Tanalia E. Cullen on October, 7, 1967 in West Plains, MO and had three beautiful children, his son, Shawn and daughters, Amberly and Holly. Jim was a wonderful, loving husband, Dad, and Grandpa. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, watching his grandchildrens sporting events, hunting, traveling, watching westerns and NASCAR, enjoyed baking and was an avid Cubs fan. Surviving are: his wife, Tanalia of almost 57 years; two daughters, Amberly Kizer of Pekin and Holly (Brian) Beckham of Pekin; daughter-in-law, Angela Cope of Pekin. Jim was a proud grandpa of nine grandchildren, Aaron (Chaslyn) Cope, Jacob (Hannah) Cope, Danielle (Robert) Boland, Caleb Cope, Joshua Kizer, Grace Kizer, Briona Beckham, Brayden Beckham and Brooklyn Beckham; five great grandchildren, Eli, Levi, Shawn II, Arden and Weston; one sister, Doris Shannon of East Peoria; two brothers, John (Bev) Cope of Springfield, MO and Gary (Robin) Cope of West Plains, MO. Preceding in death are his parents, one son, Shawn Cope, one son-in-law, Troy Kizer, one infant grandchild, one brother, Hershel Cope Jr. and one brother-in-law, Harold Shannon. Jim was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was employed at Caterpillar Inc. for 33 years retiring in 2003. He was a member of UAW Local 974 in East Peoria. Jim was a fun loving, hardworking man with a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. He enjoyed joking around with his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. He will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Friday, October 11, 2024 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory with Deacon Mark Wilder officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior, from Noon 1:00 PM also at the funeral home on Friday. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin. Memorial contributions may be made to Tunnel for Towers Foundation, St. Joseph Catholic Church or a Charity of your Choice.
