Jerry L. Sudduth

Jerry L. Sudduth, 78 of Pekin passed away at 8:07 pm, Saturday, January 30, 2021 at OSF Medical Center in Peoria surrounded by family. He was born to Buford and Mary (Geene) Sudduth on November 6, 1942 in Tell City, IN. He married Shirley Larsen on August 9, 1969 in Castro Valley, CA. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by; his wife of over 51 years, Shirley; one son, Michael Lee Sudduth of Concord, CA; one daughter, Mindy Gudat of Pekin; and two grandsons, Aidan Sudduth and Aiden Gudat. Jerry was a Christian man of strong faith. He proudly served the United States Army attaining the rank of Sergeant during the Vietnam War. He worked as an Operations Manager for a Major Electronics Firm, retiring in 2002 after 35+ years. He was an avid golfer, his tremendous love for the game led him to redo his lawn, adding a putting green at his house in California, so he was never too far from his favorite activity. Jerry was known for his heart for those less fortunate volunteering assisting the homeless, in soup kitchens, food pantries and in prison ministries. His passions were baking and Elvis. He made many people happy with his creations from his oven, including a restaurant in Rio Vista that purchased his desserts to sell and that he ultimately gave his bread pudding recipe to for free. As per his request, cremation has been accorded and no services will be held at this time. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made in Jerrys name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
