Jene E. Pfanz 'Hound Dog', 83 of Groveland passed away at 10:03 am, Thursday, July 16, 2015 at his home. Jene was born February 13, 1932 in Pekin to William and Hazel (Wade) Pfanz.He married Dorothy Sievers of Mackinaw on March 7, 1953. Jene is survived by his wife, Dorothy, son, Randy (Amy) Pfanz of Minier; grandchildren, Clint Pfanz of Danvers, Sarah Graves of Cartesville, GA; one great grandson Lucas Graves, two step grandchildren Miranda Leininger of Schaumburg and Danielle (Nathan) Hayes of Virginia; twin brother, Jack (Barb) Pfanz of Pekin, and his beloved pomeranian, Taffy. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Rick Pfanz; brothers, William and Donald Pfanz; sister, Lenora Eitenmiller. Jene attended Pekin schools.He worked at Soldwedels Dairy in Pekin and Bloomington. He then worked 31 years for R.A. Cullinan as a truck driver.He served in the U.S. Army two years during the Korean War in Chaumont, France. He won several twin conventions including The International Convention.He was a member of AKC Beagle Club winning several beagle trials as Lick Creek Beagles.He raised beagles for 50 years.He was a member of Roy L. King VFW Post #1232 and the American Legion William Schaefer Post 44. Jene was a member of the Second Reformed Church in Pekin. Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Monday, July 20, 2015 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin with Pastor Bill Appleyard-Pekich officiating.Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin with Military Honors provided by the US Army and the ceremonial team.Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the funeral home.
