Janice L. Henderson

Janice Henderson, 76 of Green Valley, IL passed away at 2:36 pm, Monday, July 22, 2024 at Pekin Manor in Pekin. She was born to Robert and Mable (Easley) Henderson in Monmouth, Il. on September 17, 1947. They preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death is her sister, Jean McAdams. Janice is survived by; nephew, Dustin (Katie) McAdams of Glenview, Illinois; one niece, Joy McAdams of La Grange, Illinois; and her brother-in-law, Steve McAdams. She received her Bachelors Degree in Teaching from Western Illinois University and a Masters Degree in Education. She retired from East Moline School District after teaching and guiding young minds for her entire career. Janie grew up a member of the Kirkland Methodist Church and was most recently a member the First United Methodist Church in Green Valley, IL. Over the years she was always involved in her church memberships volunteering in many ways. She was dedicated to her family and loved time spent with them. She was a notorious over-gifter to her family, especially on Christmas and birthdays. Janie had a very tight network of friends that she loved to travel, both near and far, with over the years. She was a collector of many things, most of them eclectic, i.e., her kaleidoscope collection. She loved animals, and over the years shared her life and love with many cats and dogs. Above all, she was one of the sweetest and most caring souls to have graced the lives of all who knew her. She will be missed. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, August 12th, at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev Steve Oaks speaking. Inurnment will be in Green Valley Cemetery, Green Valley, IL. Memorials may be made in her name to the River King Newfoundland Club or the American Cancer Society.
