Jami R. Lusher

Jami R. Lusher, 49, of Pekin, IL passed away at 7:10 PM Monday, October 17, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. Jami was born on September 6, 1973 in Pekin to Randall and Joni (Tillman) Lusher. He married Keri Hart on March 24, 2006 in Pekin. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Surviving are: his wife, Keri of Pekin; his parents, Randy and Joni Lusher of Green Valley; four children, Emma Lusher of Green Valley, IL, Kaitlyn (Brandon Piludo) Gardner of Fairfield, CA, Ethan Gardner and Aiden Hart-Lusher both of Pekin; two sisters, Jessica Whitehurst of Green Valley and Jill (Ryan) Stocke of Pekin; In laws, David and Leslie Jones-Hart of Bluffton, SC; brothers in law, Brian (Carrie) Hart of Bluffton, SC, Brad Hart of Salisbury, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jami was also fortunate to have a wonderful group of friends to share his life with, whom he considered family. Jami began his firefighting career at Green Valley Fire Department before going to the Pekin Fire Department where he retired as an engineer on August 29, 2022 after 26 years. Jami was a member of Pekin Firefighters Local 524, Ducks Unlimited, International Association of Firefighters and Sayner Barnstormers Snowmobile Club. Jami loved being in a tree stand or a duck blind, fishing from his boat or the banks, working on his racecar, cooking a great meal (especially with food from his garden or hunting and fishing trips), and watching his Cardinals in the man cave with the dogs. He could often be found chuckling after scaring his family or friends with a blaring horn, Halloween mask, frog, super pledged floor, or rigged hose in the kitchen sink, always when least expected, frequently resulting in near heart attack from the person on the other end of said prank. He loved his quiet mornings sharing coffee with his mom and dad. Jami was not a fan of crowds or big cities (especially Chicago), but he tolerated both to accompany his wife to their annual DMB concerts, mostly to keep her happy, although he did love to watch her dance like a crazy woman. Most of all, Jami loved his family, both his created and chosen ones. His kids were his pride and joy. Jamis greatest sadness was that he would miss all the amazing things that will come in their lives. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM 7:00 PM Friday, October 21st at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded after the services.
