James Johnston

James 'Jim' E. Johnston, 67 of Pekin, passed away at 9:26 AM Thursday, April 11, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 18, 1952 to John Leslie and Opal (Bennett) Johnston in Pekin, IL. He married Christie Marie Rusk on August 22, 1969 in Palmyra, MO. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sharon Clark. Jim is survived by; his wife, Christie; one daughter, Tracy (Ron) Schott of Pekin; one granddaughter, Megan (Justin) Colson of Manito; and his first great-granddaughter the family eagerly awaits to arrive later this month. Jim was a member of the UAW Local 974. He worked for Caterpillar as a machinist for 35 years retiring in 2007. He enjoyed camping, fishing and boating, and was known to drink a few beers.He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs. His greatest joy was time spent with his family. He will be missed greatly. The family of Jim would like to especially thank the ladies at the Illinois Cancer Care Pekin office for their loving care they gave Jim. Per his wishes, cremation has been accorded.
