James Edward Harkleroad

James E. Harkleroad, 68, of Pekin, IL passed away at 12:25 PM Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at his home. Jim was born on November 17, 1948 in Cincinnati Township, Tazewell County, Illinois to Harold Edward and Lenora (Vancil) Harkleroad. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Steven Harkleroad and one sister, Wilma Chism. Surviving are: one son, Robert E. (Kari) Harkleroad of Pekin; three grandchildren, Chase, Kaeli and Aiden Harkleroad; one daughter-in-law, Sheila Harkleroad of Salt Lake City, UT; one sister, Florence Rowell of Pekin; two brothers, Earl (Cathie) Harkleroad of Pekin and Ernie (Bonnie) Harkleroad of Manito; special friend, Elaine Richey of Pekin. Jim was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. He was a truck driver for Otto Baum Company. He was a member of Pekin Moose Lodge #916 and Teamsters Local #627. Jim was an avid race fan. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr. Pekin with Rev. Judy Doyle officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Friday, March 3 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens with military honors by the United States Army. Family and friends are invited to a gathering after the graveside at the F.O.P Lodge, 1303 S. 10th St., Pekin.
