James Kirsch Butner

James Kirsch Butner, 82, of Surprise, AZ, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, July 8, 2016. Jim was born March 11, 1934 in Benton, IL to Lena (Kirsch) and Preston Butner.He married Donna Sanders in 1984. He is survived by his wife Donna; children, Patricia (Joe) Norman of Houston, TX, Steven (Jen) Butner of Denver, CO, Brad (Debra) Barnard of Pekin, IL, Teresa (Mark) Fitzjerrells of Dubuque, IA; nine grandchildren, Lynsey, Maddison, Noah, and Bradley Barnard, Kody, Kasey and Khloe Fitzjerrells, Justin Norman and Preston Butner; one great granddaughter, Sophia Adams. His parents preceded him in death. Jim attended the University of Missouri at Columbia graduating in 1956 and earning his commission in the United States Army. After serving from 1957-1959 he went to work for Caterpillar, Inc. retiring in 1997. His greatest love was his wife, Donna and his children and grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Glendale Memorial Gardens 18119 State Route 9 Pekin, IL, with Dr. Brian McIntyre officiating.Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin is assisting Jim's family with arrangements.
