Jacqueline B. "Jacky" Jones, 93, of Pekin, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at Carle Health Methodist in Peoria.
Born on March 30, 1932, in Joliet, Illinois, to James R. and Zora (Tusek) Stapleton Sr., Jacky grew up with a spirit of warmth, resilience—exemplified by her courageous journey as a long-time cancer survivor—singing and unwavering faith that defined her remarkable life. On November 4, 1950, she married the love of her life, George W. Jones Sr., beginning a devoted partnership that spanned over four decades until his passing on June 14, 1994. Together, they built a beautiful family and a legacy of love in the heart of Central Illinois, cherishing many joyful family vacations to Ludington, Michigan, where the shores of Lake Michigan became a cherished backdrop for creating lifelong memories.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, George; her parents; her son, George W. Jones Jr.; her daughter, Rebecca McAllister; her sister, Pauline; her brother, Jim;
Jacky leaves behind a legacy of enduring love. She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Jeannine Stockert of Pekin; five cherished grandchildren, Vicki (Dan) Dooley, Christy (Scott) Lungwitz, Angela (Noor) McAllister, Holly (Jonathan) Whalen and Kyle (Kristi) Sanquinet; her daughter-in-law, Donna Jones; and a host of extended family and dear friends whose lives she enriched immeasurably through the profound and special bonds she nurtured with unwavering tenderness and joy.
Jacky was a pillar of her community and a cherished member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin, where she sang joyfully in the choir since 1958 and also lent her beautiful voice to the Civic Chorus—her melodies a beacon of harmony and grace for generations of congregants. A dedicated servant leader, she served as Past President of the Hospital Auxiliary, tirelessly supporting healthcare initiatives and touching countless lives through her compassion and generosity. Her winters spent in the sun-drenched warmth of Arizona provided cherished respites filled with reflection and renewal.
A funeral service celebrating Jacky’s life will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Judy Doyle officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens. Jacky's radiant smile, infectious laughter, and steadfast kindness will be forever remembered. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist of Pekin,IL.
