Jack Swibold

Jack Star Swibold, 84, of Pekin, IL passed away peacefully at 5:00 PM on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at his home. He was born on April 9, 1934 in Morton, IL to Alpheus J. and Faun S. (Kollman) Swibold. He graduated from Morton High School in 1952. Jack worked for Caterpillar Inc. 39 years retiring in 1992. He then worked at the Miller Senior Center in Pekin as a transportation driver. He met the love of his life, Barbara J. Doubet, in Pekin and were married on October 2, 1955. They were blessed with 62 years of marriage. They enjoyed entertaining friends at their home, visiting out of town friends and traveling, especially their trip to the Holy Land with their church friends. In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by his two sons, Gregg (Sue) Swibold of Pekin and Garry (Becky) Swibold of Fairview; four grandchildren, Amy (Ron) Kieser of Normal, Chad (fiance, Sarah Gosch) Swibold of North Pekin, Codi Swibold of Canton, and Cole Swibold of Fairview; three great grandchildren, Benjamin and Ava Kieser of Normal and Lucas Gosch of North Pekin; one brother, Richard (Gretchen) Swibold of North Canton, CT. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lotus Schopp. Jack had a lifelong love of music, especially jazz. He was a drummer for the Ken McKay Trio and various other jazz bands. His music career as a drummer spanned over 64 years. He was also a member of the Pekin Men's Bowling Association for 49 years, a member of the First Christian Church Dartball League, and a member of the American Federation of Musicians Local 301. Jack was a lifetime member of First Christian Church in Pekin and served as elder and deacon. He also sang for many years in the church choir. Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 11, 2018 at First Christian Church with Rev. Hank Anderson officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Friday at the church. The arrangements have been entrusted to Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 1201 Chestnut St. Pekin, Il 61554.
