Jack N. Stoudt

Jack N. Stoudt 87, of Pekin passed away at 7:46 pm Thursday, June 14, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Jack was born December 14, 1930 to Louis and Julia (Johnson) Stoudt. He married Elaine Korte on June 12, 1979 in Arlington Heights, IL. Jack is survived by his wife, Elaine; daughter, Mary (Mark) Michalski of Mundelein, IL; one brother, Robert (June) Stoudt of Mt. Juliet, TN; grandchildren, Anabell and Gabriel Michalski; two nephews; one niece; two great nephews and one great niece. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jack was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. Jack attended Hirsch High School in Chicago and then went on to attend Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Jack taught in Granite City School system for one year and completed his Master's degree at SIU-Carbondale. In 1957 he went to Pekin where he coached wrestling and football for 51 years. He was Central Illinois Wrestling Coach of the Year many times, Grand Marshall at the Illinois State Wrestling Tournament in 1994; inducted into the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2000 and into the Illinois Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2001.He received an IWCOA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003.In December of 1998, Pekin High School honored Jim Custer and Jack by naming the auxiliary gym the Custer-Stoudt Gym. Jack was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, Tazewell County Retired Teachers Association and Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Michael Andrejek officiating.Visitation will be from 4:00 pm-7:00 pm Monday, June 18 with a rosary service starting at 3:15 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin, IL.Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors. Memorials may be directed to St. Joseph School or Pekin Wrestling Boosters.
