Jack P. Goetze

Jack P. Goetze, 86 of Washington, IL passed away at 7:43 pm, Thursday, June 30, 2022 at his home. He was born to Frank H. and Sophie (Bramer) Goetze on June 12, 1936 in Green Valley, IL. He married Catherine A. Vatthauer on January 3, 1959 in Pekin. She preceded him in death on June 10, 1992. Jack was also preceded in death by; his parents, one sister, Mary Ann Neumann, two brothers-in-law, Don Schlottman and Henry Neumann; and one sister-in-law Iona Goetze. He is survived by one son, Michael (Vickie) Goetze of Washington; two daughters, Patricia Smith of South Pekin, and Amy (Steve) DeMoney of Havana; five grandchildren, Jennie Smith, Nathan (Lindsay) Smith, Marissa (Mike) Platt, Robert Chism and Jack Goetze; four great-grandchildren, Riley, Jackson, Liam, and Meredith; one brother, Robert Goetze of Green Valley; and one sister, Frances L. Schlottman. Jack served the US Army in Korea. He was a lifelong farmer in the Green Valley area, also working at Caterpillar for fourteen years, and owner of Johnson & Goetze Farm Equipment. Over the years he served as Township Supervisor, and on the Tazewell County Sheriffs Merit Commission. Jack was a hard worker, who spent no small amount of time on his bulldozer. He was a licensed Pilot and loved to fly. His greatest joy in life was time spent with his children and grandchildren. Jacks graveside service will be at 12:00 pm, Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Sand Prairie Cemetery in Green Valley, IL with Pastor Chris Sansom officiating and Military Honors provided by the United States Army. A visitation will be held Thursday, July 7 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr, Pekin, IL.
