Howard Clifford Schappaugh

Howard C. Schappaugh, 85, of Pekin Passed away at 4:00 am Sunday, June 22, 2008 at Pekin Manor. Howard was born April 23, 1923 in Quiver Township, Mason County, Illinois to Jonathan Cline and Goldie (Vice) Schappaugh. He married Wilma Watson on May 19, 1946 in Pekin. She survives. Also surviving are: one daughter, Wendy (and Art) Proehl of Pekin; four grandchildren, Cory Proehl of Colorado Springs, CO, Matt Proehl of Creve Coeur, IL, Amanda (and Don) Bruce of Bartonville, IL and Melissa Helm of Highland, IL; five great grandchildren, Autumn and Natalie Bruce, Brianna, Megan and Robbie Helm. He was preceded in death by three sisters. Howard had worked at Lauterbach Lumber, Oakley Builders, and the maintenance department at Hiram Walker and maintenance department of Pekin Public Schools District 108. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and the Churchmen's Brotherhood. He was a member of Empire Lodge 126 AF&AM and Mohammed Temple Shrine. He was an avid Cub Fan. Howard was a WW II veteran of the Army Air Force.
