Howard K. Mcmillan

Howard K. McMillan, 84, of Marquette Heights, IL passed away at 8:15 AM Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Reflections Memory Care Residence in Pekin surrounded by family. Howard was born on July 7, 1937 to Ira H. and Dorothy (Henrichs) McMillan in Pekin. He married Sharon Renner on March 25, 1957 in Holly Springs, MS. They were married for 64 wonderful years. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dennis and David McMillan; and one sister, Donna Weichbrodt. Surviving are: his wife, Sharon of Marquette Heights; two sons, Kevin (Sue) McMillan of Pekin and Kenneth (Barbara) McMillan of Ponte Vedra, FL; three grandchildren, Rene (Jason) Herberger of Pekin, Tiffany (Robert) Gailliaert of Bartonville, and Khristine McMillan of Pekin; five great grandchildren, Cooper, Caylee and Carley Herberger, Isabella and Violet Gailliaert; one brother, James McMillan of Pekin. Howard was a member of St Paul United Church of Christ. He worked for Caterpillar for 46 years, retiring in 2002 as a Gear Engineer. He was very active in the Boy Scouts of America, receiving the Silver Beaver Award from National Court of Honor. Howard enjoyed growing wild flowers and Trilliums, he was an accomplished gardener. He loved to be outdoors, whether camping the North Woods, canoeing, fishing or putzing around at his 18-acre property, Claytonia Woods. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was an especially proud grandpa; he will be greatly missed. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, January 3, 2022 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr. in Pekin with Dr. Rev. Forrest Krummel officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior from 1:00 2:00 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Forest Park Nature Center 5809 N Forest Park Dr, Peoria, IL. The family would like to thank Transitions Hospice for the exceptional care Howard was given.
