Herschel Elonzo Bundy

Husband, father, and grandfather Herschel Elonzo Bundy, resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma formerly of Pekin, Illinois, entered fully into the presence of the Lord on Saturday, August 26th, 2023 at the age of eighty-four. Herschel was born to John and Lella Bundy on October 21st, 1938 in Wyatt, Missouri. Herschel grew up in Vienna, Illinois, later moving to Peoria, Illinois to find employment. There he met his wife Judy and worked at Caterpillar Inc. until his retirement in 1994. Herschel and Judy spent 60 wonderful years together until her passing. From their time together came their children and grandchildren, who Herschel took great pride in. He loved spending time with them. Herschel enjoyed golfing and bowling in his younger years. He was a proud member of the American Bowling Association, having multiple games where he got the perfect score of 300. He enjoyed traveling the states in the multiple RV's he owned over the years. His grandchildren have fond memories of vacations and weekend camping trips with Momaw and Popaw. After retiring he worked at the golf course mowing grass. Herschel was a man of Baptist Faith. He loved the Lord and spread his good word to those around him. Later in his life Herschel was able to find love once again by marrying his grade school sweetheart Joan Gillespie. They were able to spend the final 4 years of Herschel's life together before his passing. Herschel is preceded in death by his wife Judy Bundy; parents John F. Bundy and Lella M. Bundy; an infant daughter Sheila; brother John Bundy Jr.; sister Bonnie Martin; grandson-in-law John McCormack; and infant great-granddaughter Reagan Bundy. Left to honor his memory include his wife Joan Bundy, four sons Tim Bundy-Painter and Jordan, Rob Bundy and Cyndi, step-sons Steven Guinn and David Guinn; three daughters Aprile Smith and Jim, Ginger Patterson, and step-daughter Tammy Juarez; brother Dan Brancecum and Lynda; sister Janet Keller and Jerry. Also his five grandchildren Stacie McCormack, Nate Smith, Tyler Bundy, Wesley Bundy, and Peyton Bundy; three great-grandchildren Saige, Ryden, and Max Bundy; special family friends Seth, Jen, and Kyler Ostlund; and honorary grandchildren Randi McKinley and Justin McKinley and Abby. Herschel was a kind soul that will be missed by many. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Sunday, September 17, 2023 at the Moose Lodge 916, 2605 Broadway St, Pekin, IL Private Graveside Services will be held at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin at a later date.
