Helen L. Hundemer

Helen L. Hundemer, 97, of Pekin, IL passed away at 6:03 PM Monday, November 14, 2022 at Pekin Manor. Helen was born on August 9, 1925 in Pekin to Henry and Ollie (Jenkins) Walbert. She married Harry J. Hundemer on March 11, 1945 in Pekin. Preceding in death are her parents, one grandson, James Conaghan, one brother and six sisters. Surviving are: seven daughters, Melody (Robert) Lenocker of Spartanburg, SC, Linda Levin of Laurinburg, NC, Debra Hundemer of Laurinburg, NC, Vicki (Dan) Johnson of Pekin, Christy (Lynn) Livengood of Laurinburg, NC, Julie (Bruce) Meadows of Libertyville, IL and Kelly Pennell of Canton, IL; thirteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren; one sister, Betty Johnson of Pekin. Helen was a registered nurse working at several area hospitals, last working at Pekin Hospital retiring at the age of 80. She was a life long member of Pekin First Nazarene Church where she was very involved, especially with the Womens Ministry. She was also a member of Pekin Womens Club, Pekin Hospital Retirees, Emblem Club, Pekin Jaycettes and Altrusa Club. She was awarded 1962 Mother of Year by the Pekin YWCA. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM 7:00 PM Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Friday, November 18th at Pekin First Nazarene Church with Pastor Cheryl Sherwood officiating. Internment will be at a later date in Glendale Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Pekin First Nazarene Church or a charity of the donors choice.
