Helen A. Godby, 94, of Pekin passed away at 4:10 AM Friday, September 12, 2014 at Pekin Manor. Helen was born on April 29, 1920 in Pekin, IL to Henry and Martha (Schmidgall) Schroeder. Preceding in death are; her parents, daughter, Martha Garrard, son, Roger Bailey and brother Bill Schroeder. Surviving are; four sons, Rolland (Siony) Bailey of Lakewood, WA, Robert (Betty) Bailey of Peoria, IL, Kenneth (Kellie) Godby of Dallas, TX and James (Della) Godby of Forest City, IL; one daughter, Marlene (Al) Conklin of Pekin; three sisters, Virginia Conner, Ruth Herrmann and Jo Peterson all of Pekin; blessed with many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Helen retired from Caterpillar Inc. and then was a secretary at St. Paul United Church of Christ. Helen was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and the Ruth Circle. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr. Pekin with Rev. Steve Welker officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Monday, September 15 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ 101 N. 8th Street Pekin, IL 61554. Helen's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Pekin Manor especially Garden Court.
