Harrel B. Brewington

Harrel B. Brewington, 83, of rural Pekin passed away at 6:32 p.m. Saturday, August 31, 2013, at home with his family by his side. He was born July 4, 1930, in Mayfield KY to Johnie and Bertha Suthard Brewington. He married Janette Biggers July 29, 1948 in Corinth Mississippi. He is survived by his wife Janette of 65 years; two sons, Keith and (Santana) of Green Valley, IL and Dan and (Marta) of Wildwood, Mo, daughter-in-law Diane Brewington of Bloomington, IL; also surviving are seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Harrel was preceded in death by his parents and one son Ronald Brewington. He Retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 1986 after 38 years working in the East Peoria Foundry, 3years in Glasgow Scotland and last at the Mapleton Foundry as Tool Engineer Superindent. Harrel was a member of the Valley Chapel Church in Green Valley, IL.He was a United States Marine attaining the rank of Sgt. and receiving a Purple Heart serving his country during the Korean War. He loved his church family, golfing and fishing. Funeral services will 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at Henderson funeral Home and Crematory 2131 Velde Drive Pekin.Pastor Nate Best will officiate.Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at the funeral home.Burial will be the Oak Grove Bible Church Cemetery in East Peoria.
