Harold B. Wertz, 82, of Pekin, IL passed away at 9:56 PM, Friday, April 3, 2026 at Carle Health – Methodist Hospital in Peoria.
Harold was born on June 23, 1943 in Pekin, IL to Louis E. and Pansy C. (Cohenour) Wertz. He married Susan Brickner Moreno on December 30, 1975 in Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Eugene, Robert, Wilfred and Carroll Wertz.
Surviving are: his wife, Sue of Pekin; five daughters, Becky Billingsley of Canton, Cheryl Conner of Pekin, Alicia (Cary) Null of Belton, South Carolina, Jennifer (Daniel) Leach of Crystal Lake, IL, Amanda (Peter) Van Duzer of Greenville, WI; eleven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald (Unabelle) Wertz of Pekin, and Don Wertz of Peoria.
Harold dedicated many years of his career as a computer technician at Tazewell Machine Works, where his technical expertise and problem-solving skills were highly valued. He was also a member of Tremont Sportsman Club, enjoying the camaraderie and outdoor traditions offered. Harold cultivated a wide range of passions that reflected his curious and creative spirit. He developed a deep interest in coin collecting, firearms, guitars, photography, vintage radios, gardening, and the fascinating worlds of chemistry. Whether tinkering with electronics, restoring classic equipment, or exploring scientific principles, Harold approached his hobbies with enthusiasm and a lifelong love of learning.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, April 10, 2026 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory in Pekin. Visitation will be one hour prior starting at 10:00 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens.
