Gloria Ann Ranney

Gloria Ann Ranney, 71, of Pekin, Illinois passed away on March 4, 2026 surrounded by her family, who were the center of her world and her greatest joy. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Gloria poured her heart into her family. Her family was her proudest accomplishment and the light of her life.

Gloria was born on July 31, 1954 in Pekin to James and Erna (Roman) St. Cerny. She married Greg Ranney on March 2, 1974 in Pekin.

Preceding in death are her parents and brothers, James St. Cerny III and Robert St. Cerny.

Surviving are: her husband, Greg of Pekin; three children, Corey (Kristin) Ranney of Creve Coeur, Seth (Missy) Ranney of Pekin, and Rachel Ranney of Pekin; six cherished grandchildren, Josie, Lexi, Chase, Chloe, Zaylee, and Damon; and three beloved great-granddaughters, Ellie, Millie and Sophia; her brother Doug St. Cerny of Fort Myers, FL.

Gloria’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith in God. Her relationship with the Lord guided her every step and inspired her lifelong commitment to serving others. She lived her faith not only in words, but through daily acts of kindness, generosity, and compassion that touched countless lives throughout the Pekin Community.

A dedicated member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin, Gloria was deeply involved in many areas of church. She faithfully gave her time and talents wherever there was a need, always with a willing heart and a joyful spirit. Over the past decade, she spearheaded the District 108 snack pack program, ensuring children had food to sustain them over the weekend. Her leadership and determination made a profound difference in the lives of many families.

Gloria also helped lead the food pantry at Grace United Methodist Church, helping to provide nourishment to several hundred individuals and families. She believed no one in her community should go hungry, and she worked tirelessly to make that belief a reality.

Professionally, Gloria dedicated her career to education as a teacher and later as a principal in District 108. Throughout her years in the school system, she positively impacted thousands of young lives. She believed deeply in the potential of every child and worked diligently to create environments where students felt supported, valued, and encouraged to succeed. Her legacy lives on in the many students, colleagues, and families she inspired.

Gloria will be remembered for her steadfast faith, servant’s heart, and the radiant smile that could brighten a room. Though she will be deeply missed, her love, faith, and example of selfless service will continue to guide and inspire her family and community for generations to come.
