Gertrude T. Nichols

Gertrude T. Nichols, 94, of Pekin, IL passed away at 2:46 AM Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at Hallmark Healthcare of Pekin.

Gertrude was born on January 25, 1931 in Youngstown, OH to Gustav and Madeline E. (Musshafen) Carl Sr.

Preceding in death are her parents, one granddaughter, Hannah Lulay, two brothers, Walter Carl and Gustav Carl Jr., and one sister, Irene Oertel.

Surviving are: two daughters, Julie Nichols of Peoria, IL and Jill Lulay of Pekin; one grandson, Ryan Lulay of Pekin; one sister, Margaret Fredrick of Trenton, MI.

Gertrude was Valedictorian of the 1949 Class of Pekin High School. She was secretary for Sherex Chemical Company until retiring in 1992. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ where she was a Sunday school teacher and active in the choir. She was also a member of the Melody Maids and Melody Mommas.

Graveside services will be at 2:30 PM Friday, May 2, 2025 at Glendale Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM 2:00 PM Friday at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ or the Alzheimers Association Central Illinois Chapter.
