Geraldine Atherton

Geraldine G. 'Jerry' Atherton, 78, of 1005 S. Capitol St. passed away at 10:01 pm Saturday, April 28, 2007 in the Emergency Room at Pekin Hospital. Jerry was born April 6, 1929 in Chicago, IL to Orville and Helen Gravell Robinson. She married Paul Riviere on March 10, 1949 in Pekin. He passed away May 5, 1965. She then married Walter Atherton Jr. June 12, 1968. He survives of Pekin. Also surviving are: one daughter, Michele (and Bob) Small of Pekin; three sons, Paul (and Aleda) Riviere of Forest City, IL, Clay (and Sue) Riviere of Jackson, TN and Lance (and Lisa) Riviere of Pekin; two step-sons, Danny (and Bev) Atherton of Deer Creek, IL and Don Atherton of Pekin; nine grandchildren, Daniel Atherton, Alan and Winston Hosbrough, Katie Small, Paul, Mathew, Hannah and Grace Riviere and Rachel Spires; fourteen great grandchildren. Jerry was member of Grace United Methodist Church, YAM Sunday School Class, Susannah Circle, Bell Choir, church wedding coordinator, UMW and the Annual Strawberry Festival committee. She was also a member of the Pekin Hospital Auxiliary and Past Honored Queen Jobs Daughters Bethel #55 Pekin. She had served as a Girl Scout Leader and Boy Scout Leader.
