Gerald Wiseman

Gerald 'Jerry' Wiseman, 89, of Morton passed away at 8:30 am Monday, May 22, 2017 at Unity Point Health Methodist in Peoria. Jerry was born February 12, 1928 in Spring Lake Township.He was born to Robert and Opal (Shelabarger) Wiseman.He was raised in Pekin, IL. After high school he joined the marines.After discharge he was a lineman for CILCO and Middle States Telephone.He was called back to active duty with the Marine Reserves when the Korean War started. After discharge he was a letter carrier for four years, he left the post office and went to work as a salesman for 34 years with Pekin Distributing Co and Baumgarten Distributing. He married Wilma Ripper on February 27, 1950 at the Sand Prairie Lutheran Church.She passed away January 3, 1990.He later married Patricia Bartelmay on March 12, 1992 in Conyers, GA. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; son, Lonny Wiseman; sister, Evelyn Gerdes; and brother, Robert Wiseman. Jerry is survived by his wife, Patricia of Morton; daughter, Gigi (Brian) Miller of Zionsville, IN; son, Lenny (Lori) Wiseman, of Pekin; two stepsons, Doug (Faye) Bartelmay of Germantown Hills, IL and Scott (Danette) Bartelmay of Morton; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren; one sister, Marilyn June Kuhns of St. Augustine, FL. He played fast pitch soft ball for the city league and church league for many years. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, Devil Dogs and 40 & 8 Club.He was a life member of American Legion Post 44, Pekin AMVETS Post #235, Fraternal Order Eagle Lodge #1869, Elks Lodge #1271, Pekin Moose Lodge #916. Jerry was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton with Pastor Jeff Anderson officiating.Visitation will be from 9:30 am to 10:30 am prior to service. Private burial with military honors will be held at Sand Prairie Cemetery.Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory in Pekin is assisting Jerry's family with arrangements.
