Georgia Loretta Utter, 96, of Pekin, passed away at 2:17 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Timbercreek Rehab & Health Center in Pekin. Georgia was born March 9, 1918, in Pekin to Edward C. and Carrie M. (Ross) Oltman, one of fourteen children. She met her true love Charles H. Utter on August 18, 1935 at the First Christian Church in Pekin. They were married at the church parsonage on June 30, 1937. He died September 13, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers, Walter, Eugene, Harold, Carl, Clarence, Harvey, Edward, Wilfred, and Kenneth Oltman; three sisters, Nellie Sweeter, Dorothy Maple, and Mildred Walker; 2 sons-in-law, Harry Turner and Jack Broughton; 3 great-granddaughters and one step-grandson. Surviving are two daughters, Donna Turner of Minot, ND, and Patricia (Steve) Gardner of Pekin; two granddaughters, Mindy (Tex) Baker of Winder, Ga, and Diana Rankin of Minot, ND; two grandsons, Jason (Amanda) Broughton of Pekin, and Jon (Hayley) Broughton of Pahrump, Nv; step-granddaughter, Terri (Mike) Pogioli of Pekin; two great-grandsons, Daniel Rankin of Amarillo, Tx, and Cory Brown of Winder, Ga; six great-granddaughters, Dana Rankin of Manhattan, NY, Spec/4 Haley Brown of Afghanastan, Isabelle Broughton of Pekin, and Adin, Kera, and Miya Broughton of Pahrump, Nv.; two step-great grandsons, Evan and Carter Pogioli of Pekin; and extended family of step-great grandchildren and their children in the Pekin area. Georgia was expecting her first great-great grandson in August. She is also survived by one brother, Vincent 'Buzz' (Deanna) Oltman of Pekin, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Georgia and her husband owned and operated the Charles Utter Printing Co. in Pekin for 36 years, retiring in 1983. She was a devoted homemaker and a caring woman who loved her family. She became a member of the First Christian Church of Pekin in March, 1932. She attended regularly until recent years, and belonged to several Sunday School classes. Georgia had to quit school her sophomore year and go to work to help pay for younger siblings to go to school. She achieved her personal goal of obtaining her GED from ICC in 1974. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 3 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin with visitation one hour prior to the funeral.Rev. Michael Roberts will officiate.Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens Chapel of Dreams. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to First Christian Church, 1201 Chestnut Street, Pekin, IL 61554 or the charity of the donor's choice. Georgia's family extends a sincere thank you to the staff of Pekin Estates, John Evans Supportive Living, Timbercreek Rehab & Health Center, and Harbor Light Hospice for the excellent care and respect given to Georgia during her later years.Georgia was an inspiration to many for her faith, strengths, and perseverance, and was admired for her gentle and loving ways.
