Georgia Gschwend

Georgia Gschwend, 70, of Pekin passed away at 12:13 PM Monday, November 17, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Georgia was born on February 22, 1944 in East Prairie, MO to John L. and Thelma M. (Ward) Carpenter. She married Raymond J. Gschwend on August 5, 1967 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Preceding in death are her parents and one brother, Lawrence Carpenter. Surviving is: her husband, Ray of Pekin; two daughters, Nicole (Richard) Soer of Dubuque, IA and Natalie Gschwend of Seattle, WA; three grandchildren, Zachary, Joseph and Elizabeth Soer of Dubuque, IA; three brothers, Cecil (Janet) Carpenter of Camdenton, MO, Charley Carpenter of Hopedale, IL and Marvin (Janet) Carpenter of East Galesburg, IL. Georgia was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she served as a Lector and on the RCIA team. She was a member of the Pekin Hospital League and was currently serving as President. She graduated from San Jose High School and Celestial Beauty College in Pekin. She enjoyed card making, flower arranging, interior decorating, traveling and helping friends in need. She worked as a hairdresser for many years and a Celebrating Home Consultant. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, November 21, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Michael Andrejek officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Thursday, November 20th at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr. Pekin with recitation of the Rosary at 3:15 PM. Burial will be at 3:00 PM Friday in Green Hill Cemetery, San Jose, IL. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Pekin Hospital League, Knights of Columbus Building Fund or RCIA at St. Josephs.
