George H. Virden

George H. Virden, 83, of Manito, IL passed away peacefully in the last home he built with his companion, Sheryl Southey by his side. George was born on December 9, 1938 in Peoria, IL to Harold E. and Elsie I. (Yetter) Virden. He had one sister, Joyce (Richard) Eagleton of Peoria and one brother, Harry (Carolyn) Virden of Pekin. He married Ann Williams on February 20, 1959 and they had two daughters, Deborah LaBanca of Pekin, and Dayna (Wally) Thacker of Pipestone, MN. George joined the Navy from 1958-1960 and continued an apprentice program in Peoria on his return home. He worked for Ken Thomas Construction Company for 20 years. George is survived by: two daughters, Deborah LaBanca of Pekin and Dayna Thacker of Pipestone, MN; eight grandchildren, Josh (Erin) Frederich of Lincoln, RI IL, Samantha (Brett) Belless of Lewistown, IL, Elizabeth (Lance) Dennis of Peoria, IL, Emily (Jon) Irons of Danville, IL Mario (Lauren) LaBanca of Pingree Grove, IL, Armando LaBanca serving the US Navy, Katy Thacker of MI, and Ava Thacker of Pipestone, MN; and seven great grandchildren. George spent over half his life building homes and commercial buildings. He loved hunting, bird dogs, riding motorcycles, and hanging out with his friends. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am, Monday, October 10, 2022 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin, IL 61554 with Rev. Chuck Grogan officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior from 10:00 am 11:00 am. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to donors choice.
