George A. Eitenmiller

George A. Eitenmiller Sr., 93 of Pekin passed away at 6:45 pm, Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Morton Villa Healthcare and Rehabilitation Centre. George was born February 17, 1922 in Pekin to William and Anna (Pfanz) Eitenmiller.He married Mary Lou Davis. He later married Alice Lister September 16, 1960 she passed away August 11, 1991. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Rick; two brothers, Arthur and Louis; and his close friend Eva Counterman. George is survived by one son, George (Mary Jane) Eitenmiller Jr. of Mackinaw; step son Darrel Kinney; two grandchildren, Jenifer (Edward) Abbott of Allen, TX, and Dan Eitenmiller of Mackinaw; great grandchildren, Mackenna, Maggie, Conlin and Kerrigan Abbott of Texas, Lauryn and Jackson 'Jack' Eitenmiller of Mackinaw; two brothers, Donnie (Jean) Eitenmiller and Fritz Eitenmiller both of Pekin. George retired in 1982 from Keystone Steel and Wire as a machine operator.He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ.He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles in Pekin, American Legion William Schaefer Post, VFW Post 4835 Creve Coeur, IL, and a lifetime member of Peoria Sportsman Club. He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his grandchildren.He was a WWII veteran with the United States Army serving in the European Theater. He was awarded Silver Star and the Bronze Star along with various combat ribbons during his time of service. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday, November 6, 2015 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin with Rev. Brian Bryne officiating.Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, November 5 at the funeral home.Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens with military honors by the United States Army and Tazewell Military Rites Team. Memorials may be directed to charity of donor's choice.
