Gary W. Turner, 67, of Pekin passed away at 10:55 AM Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at his home. Gary was born on July 1, 1942 in Pekin to Virgil W. 'Bud'and Edith I. (Batterton) Turner. He married Joyce Miller on June 21, 1964 in Marquette Heights, IL. Preceding in death are his grandparents, father and father-in-law. Surviving are: his wife, Joyce of Pekin; one son, Geoff (Courtney) Turner of St. Louis, MO; his mother, Edith Turner of Pekin; three brothers, Bryan (Luella) Turner of St. Charles, MO, Michael (Cheryll) Turner of Decatur, IL and Virgil 'Buddy' (Stephanie) Turner of Bartonville, IL; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Gary worked at Pekin Machine for 45 years retiring in 2005 as manager. He was a member of the Automotive Wholesalers of Illinois and Central Illinois Senior Association. He loved playing golf, snowmobiling and horse back riding. During the 1980's Gary had a hole in one while playing at Lick Creek Golf Course par 3 125 yard 4th hole with a pitching wedge and was a past winner of the Sunset Best Ball Tournament. Gary was a member of the First Christian Church and attended the First United Presbyterian Church.
