Garry Syfert, 81, of Pekin, IL passed away at 3:31 AM Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at his home surrounded by family. He was born October 14, 1939 to Charles and Eileen (Kline) Syfert. He was married to Lynda Primm for 30 years. Garry was preceded in death by his parents and maternal and paternal grandparents. He is survived by; three children, Greg (Jillyn) Syfert of Colorado, Christy Quassa and Brad Syfert, both of Texas; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Pat Hawkins of Pekin; and his best buddy, Tank the dog. Garry was of the protestant faith. He was a strong advocate of unions, belonging to five different in his lifetime. Local #4 of International Brotherhood of Distillery Workers, Local #8 of International Brotherhood of Stationary Fireman & Oilers, Local #974 of International Brotherhood of United Auto Workers, Local #540 of International Brotherhood of United Food and Commercial Workers and Local #627 of International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He was a generous man, he loved to help out others both with his time and financially, including Meals on Wheels, Rescued Heart, and The ARK Humane Society in Lacon, to name a few. Garry loved to boat, fish, camp and hunt. He was an avid outdoorsman all his life. He enjoyed antique car shows. He was active in several organizations including National Geographic Society, United Kennel Club, and the NRA- National Rifle Association. He loved all the dogs he had over his lifetime. A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation.
