Francis Eugene 'Gene' Gullette Jr., 78, of Groveland, IL passed away at 5:25 PM Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Pekin Manor. Gene was born on July 21, 1942 in Washington, DC to Francis Eugene and Dorothy Pauline (Harvey) Gullette Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Waldo Dixon, Warren Gullette, Charles Gullette and David Gullette. Surviving are: one son, Francis 'Gene' (Helen) Gullette III of Pekin; one daughter, Becky (Jack Hagan) Gullette of South Pekin; three grandchildren, Ashley Hagen, Aaron Hagen and Adam Hagan; one great grandson, Zachary Hagan; one step granddaughter, Andrea Swanson; two step great grandchildren, Alivia Lewis and Jaden Lewis; two sisters, Brenda Ratliff of Cleveland, OH and Linda Darrow of Concord, AL. Gene was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Bay of Pigs. He was an electrician at Caterpillar, Inc. of over 35 years retiring in 2000. Gene was a member of UAW #974, NRA and Ducks Unlimited. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was an accomplished string instrument musician and song writer. He recorded four singles that were released on 45's. He had played in multiple bands and was part owner of Willow Wind Productions. He worked with many county stars throughout the years. There will be a Celebration of Gene's Life at a later date. Cremation will be accorded. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with Gene's arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Christian Appalachian Project PO Box 55911, Lexington, KY 40555-5911 or Children's Home Society of Virginia PO Box 6266, Richmond, VA 23230.
