Forrest E. Davis

Forrest E. 'Jim' Davis, 77, of Manito, passed away at 1:42 am Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Timbercreek Rehab & Health Center. Forrest was born to Forrest C. and Cora M. (Watts) Davis August 30, 1938 in McLean, IL.He married Jean Parkin September 12, 1958 in Pekin.She survives. He is also survived by children, Joy (Bob) Garlisch of Forest City, Lynne (David) Brooks of Pekin, and Brent (Tracy) Breedlove of Springfield; grandchildren, Jared (Molly) Garlisch, Matt (Hannah) Garlisch, Nathan Brooks, Jonathan Brooks, Zac Davis, Chris Davis, Carly Breedlove, and Avery Breedlove; great grandchildren, Mason Garlisch, Schuylar Garlisch, Savannah Garlisch, Noah Wood, Eathan Brooks, Alisa Brooks, Makenna Brooks; siblings, Joann Bearden of Nixa, MO, Beverly (Hormoz) Amjadi- Honolulu HI, Gary (Mary) Davis, Gibson City, IL, Judy Leisure, Buffalo, MO, Mark (Fran) Davis - Saybrook, IL. He was preceded by his parents, one son, Brian Davis, one sister, Carol Vance. Forrest was a member of Local 649 Journeymen, operating engineers, Forman Fire Protection trustee and volunteer. He was a member and past president of the Manito - Forest City Rotary Club and Illinois Land Improvement Contractors Association serving as past president and director with lifetime membership. He attended Spring Lake Missionary Church. He started Forrest Davis & Son Construction in 1974, retiring in 2006. He enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling. Memorial services will be at 10:30 am Friday, April 1, 2016 at Spring Lake Missionary Church with Rev. Tom Schakat officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Thursday March 31 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin. Additional visitation will be held Friday from 9:30 am-10:30 am at his church. Inurnment will be in Spring Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Peoria Rescue Mission or Spring Lake Missionary Church.
