Evelyn F. Whitley

Evelyn F. Whitley, 81 of Pekin passed away at 3:51 pm Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Unity Point-Methodist in Peoria. Evelyn was born May 19, 1934 in Camden, Illinois to Charles and Hildreth (Owens) Ritchey.She married Dale Whitley August 6, 1952 in Pekin, he died June 12, 1987.She then married Gail Whitley on April 29, 2004 in Pekin, he survives. Also surviving are four sons, Rick (Boyce) Whitley, Perry (Marcia) Whitley both of Pekin, Dennis (Pat) Whitley of Manito, Wayne (Linda) Whitley of Pekin; five daughters, Denise (Gary) Williams, Naydene (John) Haynes, Dianne (Rick) Harms, Twyla Lowe, Rachell (Chris) Tisdale all of Pekin; fifteen grandchildren and forty plus great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Dale; and five sisters; one grandson and one great granddaughter. Evelyn was retired as a cashier from A&P Store in Pekin after 20 years of service. She also had worked at Pekin Community Care & Quality Care last working in 1990. Evelyn enjoyed working with children, she was active with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, previously being a den mother and scout leader. She volunteered in the mothers club at school and also at Pekin Hospital. Evelyn was formerly a member of North Pekin Church of Nazarene and currently member of Lighthouse Church of God. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Friday, June 5, 2015 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin with Rev. Keith Moore officiating.Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 10:45 am prior to service on Friday at funeral home.Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens.
