Evelyn Poe

Eveyln L. Poe, 85 of Rockford, formerly of Pekin, entered the arms of our heavenly Lord ,family and friends at 11:15 am, Tuesday, April 16, 2013 in Rockford.For over a year, she had been suffering from Alzheimer's and advanced colon and kidney cancer, and had been in the home care of her daughter, Sheri. She was born August 20, 1927, in Plattsmouth, Nebraska to Martin and Elizabeth (Friedrich) Lohnes.Married Gerald B. Poe on July 3, 1955.In her earlier years, she was employed by B & F Confectionary, Schippers, Farmers Auto Insurance and Caterpillar.Active in the Caterpillar Ladies Bowling Team and St. John's Lutheran Church Choir. She was preceded by her husband, Gerald, parents, mother-in-law, Mabel Poe-Barter and brother, Marvin Lohnes. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Sheri Poe-Pape, son-in-law, Bruce Pape, grandsons Trevor and Jared Pape of Rockford, sister-in-law, Dora Lohnes, niece Kathy Kalhammer, and nephew Darrell Lohnes all of Pekin. Evelyn was a kind and gentle soul, and would always be there for those in need.She was the epitome of the 'Perfect' traditional stay-at-home mother.She was also a compassionate wife, daughter and sister.There will never be another Evelyn in our lifetime.Her presence will be forever missed daily.Rest in Peace, Mama. Funeral service will be at 1:30 pm Friday, April 19, 2013 with visitation 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm at Henderson Funeral Home and Crematory 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin.Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate.Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens.
