Eula Mae Tavernier

Eula Mae Tavernier, 87 of East Peoria, formerly of Pekin, passed away at 5:48 am, Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Riverview Senior Living Community in East Peoria. Mae was born November 13, 1923 in Scottsburg, IL to John H. and Vergie M. (Smelser) Johnson.She married Klyce F. Tavernier on September 23, 1945,he survives. Also Surviving are one son, John(Pam)Tavernier of Frederick, IL; one daughter Judy (Bob) Given of Pekin; four grandchildren, Jennifer(Chris) Banks, Sean(Erin) Tavernier, Allison and Meagan Given; three great grandchildren, Mason and Ryan Banks, and Joseph Tavernier. She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Michael Given; three brothers, Leo, Lloyd and Harold Johnson; three sisters, Ruth Bagley, Virginia Butler and Margaret Miller. Mae was a registered nurse. She worked at Pekin Hospital as well as volunteering for the American Red Cross for many years.She was a longtime member of the Pekin Registered Nurses Association, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Pekin. Private graveside services will be held.There will be no visitation.Pastor Glenn Niemann will officiate.Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens. Henderson Funeral Home is assisting Mae's family with arrangements.
