Eugene Van Vooren

Eugene Gene Van Vooren, 88, of Bartonville, IL "lived a good life" and gained his heavenly wings December 17, 2020 at 6:50p.m knowing the love of his family. Gene was born November 26, 1932 in Kewanee, IL, the son of Clement and Florence (McRell) Van Vooren. He is survived by his life partner, Rachel (Charlie) Van Vooren (Phillips) and three children, Valerie (Jimmy) Yates, Brian Van Vooren, and Lori Van Vooren. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his second born son, Kevin James Van Vooren, and his brother, Donald Van Vooren. Gene dearly adored, and was a father-figure to, his only grandson, Cameron (Bree) Van Vooren. He was blessed with and cherished his time with his one great-grandson, Gryffin Eugene. He was a pet-father who loved spending his days lounging with his loyal companion, Killer. Gene proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After honorably serving, he received his accounting training from MidState College and joined the financial industry in Central Illinois. He loved numbers and the challenge of working with them. Gene retired as the Vice President/Treasurer from Pekin Savings Bank in November 2004. Gene loved his family and will be missed by all. Cremations rites have been accorded. There will be no visitation. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with Genes arrangements. Memorials may be donated in his name to your local animal shelter.
