Eugene D. Viviano, age 94, of Pekin, IL passed away at 12:50 AM Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at his home, surrounded by family. Gene was born on May 19, 1924 in Panama, IL to Angelo and Beulah (Cunningham) Viviano. He married Louise Chown on June 29, 1946 in Havana, IL. She passed away on April 16, 2012. Also preceding him in death were his parents and his brother, Lee Viviano. Surviving are two sons, Ron (Nancy) Viviano of Coal Creek Canyon, CO, Gary (Clint Baker) Viviano of Pekin; one daughter, Pam (Jim Jones) Viviano of Hulett, WY; one brother, John (Nancy) Rahn of Davenport FL; one sister, Carol (Lou) Kindred of Whitehall, WI. Gene joined the Army Air Force and served during WWII.During that time he built landing strips for cargo planes, which began his passion for building.When the war ended, he returned and married Louise, the love of his life, who had waited for him throughout his service.He attended school on the G.I. Bill of Rights to learn the construction trade.Together they established the Viviano Construction Company, where they combined his building skills with her business acumen. Gene was an active member of Pekin Elks Lodge #1271, Moose Lodge #916, and past president of the Pekin Lions Club. In his younger years he enjoyed golfing, traveling with his family, fishing, and spending time with their large group of friends.As he grew older he enjoyed painting, working on his rental properties, and reading. Cremation rites have been accorded, and a gathering will be held at Glendale Memorial Gardens on a later date. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of Gene's arrangements.
