Etta M. Sidell

Etta M Sidell, 94 of Pekin, passed away at 3:00 am, Friday, January 05, 2018 at Pekin Manor. She was born on January 11, 1923 to Matthew A. and Elsie J. (Batterton) Mahr in Manito, IL. She married Charles Sidell on February 17, 1940 in Keokuk, IA. He passed away on December 23, 2003. Etta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, one grandson Clint Sidell, two sisters, infant Doris, and Wanda Wasion, one brother Melvin Mahr, and son-in-law, Bill Sanderson. She is survived by; one son, Gary (Gloria) Sidell of Morton; one daughter, Marilyn Sanderson of Pekin; four grandchildren, Tracie (Steven) McConnell of Delavan, Dennis (April) Sanderson of Sandwich, IL, Jeffrey Sidell of Peoria, IL and Chad (Megan Uithoven) Sidell of Chicago; and five great-grandchildren, Brian McConnell of Peoria, Gina (Jonathon) Messer of Pensacola, FL, Erin McConnell of Jacksonville, FL, Amanda Sanderson of Sandwich, IL, and Emme Sidell of Chicago. Etta worked at American Distillery on the bottling line for 30 years. She was a member of the 25 year club at American Distillery and the Eagles Lady's Auxiliary #1869. She and Charles loved their time camping at Kentuckiana Kampground. She was an especially gifted cook who enjoyed crafts and reading but her greatest treasures were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Etta's funeral will be Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 11:00 am at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin, IL. Pastor Daniel Larimore will officiate. There will be a visitation one hour prior at the funeral home. Private burial will be held Wednesday at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
