Ethel E. Knippenberg, 95, of Pekin passed away at 7:07 am Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Pekin Hospital. Ethel was born on April 28, 1913 in Beardstown, IL to George W. and Wyllia (Wetzel) Hulett. She married Rudolph A. Knippenberg on September 4, 1937 in Berwyn, IL. He died on January 2, 1997. Also preceding in death are two brothers and two sisters. Surviving are: two sons, James (and Jeri) Knippenberg of Lafayette, IN and Ray (and Candy) Knippenberg of Naperville, IL; four grandchildren, James and Brady Knippenberg, Jessica Starck and Jennifer Mobley; four great grandchildren, Cole and Taylor Mobley, Paige and David Knippenberg; two sisters, Wyllia Elam of Houston, TX and Lela Englehart of Omaha, NE. Ethel was a member of Congregational United Church of Christ and the Women's Fellowship of the church. She is a past board member of the YWCA and a member of the YWCA Reserves and Pekin Hospital Auxiliary. Ethel had worked as a legal secretary and for the Soil Conservation Service in earlier years. After she married Rudy she devoted her time to her family and home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Congregational United Church of Christ. The Rev. Jim West will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Visitation will from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Monday at Henderson Funeral Home in Pekin. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial be given to the YWCA 315 Buena Vista St. Pekin, IL 61554, Friends of the Library 301 S. 4th Pekin, IL 61554 or Congregational United Church of Christ 2200 Willow St. Pekin, IL 61554.
