Esther Glyndean Kennedy

Esther Glyndean 'Glenna' Kennedy, 78, of Pekin, IL passed away at 4:14 PM Sunday, June 10, 2018 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. Esther was born on November 22, 1939 in McHenry, KY to Darrel and Gladys (Decker) Heflin. She married Clifford J. Bennett March 9, 1981 in Pekin. He passed away on January 22, 2002. She is preceded in death by; her parents; three husbands, George 'Bud' Keyes, Arthur Jester and Clifford Bennett; three brothers, Gene, Darrell and Carroll. Surviving are: two sons, Flint (Bonnie) Keyes, Jason (Becky) Jester, both of Pekin; one brother, Leroy (Kathy) Heflin of KY; one sister, Patty Heflin of Pekin; one sister-in-law, Edna Heflin of Pekin; six grandchildren, Josh, Jake, Janelle Keyes, Christian, Dominick, and Gabriel Jester; and seven great-grandchildren. Glenna worked as a CNA, last working at Hallmark House Nursing Center when she retired.She was a special person, who actually really liked cleaning, even to a fault. Vacuuming and laundry were a few of her favorite things. She was a wonderful cook, family famous for her fried chicken and biscuits and gravy. Glenna also loved to bake, during the holidays, she would produce the majority of the baked goods for her extended family. In her quiet time, she enjoyed sitting down to a find-a word puzzle. Her cooking and cleaning skills were one way of showing the great love she had for her family. Family truly was her greatest treasure. Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin with Rev. Tim Ellison officiating. Visitation will be from 11:30 - 1:30 Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Memorial contributions may be made to OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
