Ernest Harkleroad

Ernest H. 'Ernie' Harkleroad, 76, of Manito, IL passed away at 6:05 PM Friday, January 18, 2019 at Aperion Care Morton Villa in Morton, IL. Ernie was born on October 2, 1942 in Cincinnati Township, Tazewell County, Illinois to Harold Edward and Lenora (Vancil) Harkleroad. He married Bonnie Schlottman on March 2, 1964 in Pekin. Preceding in death are his parents, one brother, James E. Harkleroad, one sister, Wilma Chism and one nephew, Steve Harkleroad. Surviving are: his wife, Bonnie of Manito; one son, Kevin Harkleroad of Manito; three grandchildren, Chelsie, Heidi and Ben Harkleroad; two great grandchildren, Raylynn Harkleroad, Bradley Arvidson, and two more great grandchildren due in 2019; one brother, Earl (Cathie) Harkleroad of Pekin and one sister, Florence Rowell of Pekin. Ernie served in the Air National Guard during the Vietnam War. He farmed for many years then worked at Thermogas in Manito. He then worked at Sunrise FS in Manito retiring as manager in 2004. He enjoyed woodworking. A visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Henderson Funeral Home and Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin. Cremation will be accorded after the visitation with inurnment at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
