Ellen Marie Koenig

Ellen Marie Koenig, 83, of Pekin, IL passed away at 4:10 AM Thursday, April 09, 2015 at Pekin Hospital. Marie was born on January 23, 1932 in Martinsville, IL to George and Gladys (White) Bishop. She married Howard L. Laster on May 17, 1967 in Ringo, GA. He passed away on March 20, 1992. She married Joseph D. Koenig on April 17, 1999 in Pekin. He passed away on June 12, 2000. Also preceding in death are seven brothers and four sisters. Surviving are: two sisters, Linda Henderson of Pekin, IL and Wilma (Donald) Shotts of Martinsville, IL; several nieces and nephews. Marie was an operator for Illinois Bell for twenty-five years retiring in 1983. She then worked as a receptionist for Carle Clinic for ten years retiring in 1994. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pekin Women's Club, American Legion Post #44 Auxiliary and Illinois Bell Pioneers of America Marie was a generous soul who cast loving light upon all who knew her, every greeting with her was one which brought mutual smiles.No matter where she went or with whom she would cross paths, a friend was made and an impression of love was left.To know Marie was to love her. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr. Pekin with Rev. Brian Byrne officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
