Elizabeth P. Weimer

Elizabeth P. (Betty) Weimer, 92, of 1603 N. 5th Street passed away at 6:50 pm Monday, January 1, 2007 at Hallmark House Nursing Center. Betty was born on February 26, 1914 in Seattle, WA to L. Perley and Virginia Perry Phelps. She married Dr. James I. Weimer on December 5, 1939 in Chicago, IL. He passed away on April 21, 1993. Also preceding in death is one sister, Jean Stevens. Surviving are one son, Richard P. (and Jan) Weimer of Chicago, IL. Betty attended the University of Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Journalism. Betty had worked as the society editor of the Daily Iowan in Iowa City, IA and the Tri City Star in Davenport, IA. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake, IA and the Pekin Country Club. Cremation rites will be accorded. Private burial of the ashes will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. There will be no visitation. Henderson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
